Chestnut Class

Welcome to Chestnut Class!

Teachers: Mrs Slater and Mrs Crossley-May

Welcome back. This is what Chestnut class will be covering this half term.

Topic – Our science topic this half term will be: Space. See below for more details.

Homework – will be set on a Thursday and will need to be completed by the following Tuesday.  This will be emailed to parents on a Wednesday or Thursday and will be online due to us not being able to send home homework books at the moment. There will usually be a piece of maths or English as well as spellings, times tables and reading (x15 mins daily.) Sometimes we will set a quest (project) which will last for the whole half term.

Reading – please continue to hear your child read. It makes such a difference to their reading in all curriculum areas if they are heard at home regularly. Unfortunately, we are not able to use reading logs at the moment due to minimising the amount of ‘items’ coming from school to home and vice versa.

PE will be tag rugby with Mr Tyrrell on a Tuesday (come to school in PE kit on Tuesdays) and another outdoor PE session will be taught on a Thursday or Friday – when the weather is reasonable (school uniform and trainers will be fine for this session).

Children will not be able to get changed for PE this term. Please could they come to school each day (except Tuesday) in uniform but with trainers instead of school shoes.

Water bottles – please make sure your child has a full, named water bottle in school which we will send home on a Friday for cleaning.

For more detailed information on each subject area, please see the curriculum overview overleaf.
