Oak Class’s Trip to Dartmoor

Oak Class joined Class 3 from Kenn Primary School for a day on Dartmoor. Although the weather forecast was bad, the rain held off and everyone had a great day walking up to Bellever Tor.

The two wonderful guides from Dartmoor National Park gave everyone a great insight into the rocks and soils on this amazing tor. The children learnt about how the granite was formed and why there are tors on Dartmoor, how soil is formed on Dartmoor and how Bronze Age settlers used the local rocks, soils, flora and fauna to survive.

It was quite a long walk, but the class were great, with no (well, hardly any!) moaning about the steel hills and rocky surfaces.

Here are some beautiful photos to illustrate the fun that the children had.
